It is always to your benefit to look for ways to save money. One of the ways you can do this is by using coupons. They provide an excellent means of saving a few bucks here and there. How do you go about doing this?
#1 -Make a Plan
You need to know how and where you plan to use your coupons. Do not wait until you are standing in the middle of the grocery store or department store to start sorting through a huge stack of coupons. This will cause you more stress not less!
#2- Be Organization Savvy
Write up a list of the items that you need to purchase and make note of the ones that you have coupons for. Come up with an organizational system for your coupons that works for you. You may wish to organize them in terms of the expiry dates or group them into categories such as food, cleaning products, household items, personal care items or in terms of what stores they can be used at, etc. Decide what works best for you.
Make sure that you don’t have your coupons everywhere- in your wallet, loose in your purse, in your pockets, on the kitchen counter or stuffed in your desk drawer. This is coupon chaos! To be organization savvy you need to purchase a coupon organizer or fashion one from something that you have already have at home.
#3- Keep Coupons Close at Hand
There is no sense having a coupon organizer and then leaving it on the kitchen table when you go out to do your shopping! Always keep the organizer somewhere close by so you will not forget it. You may wish to keep it in your purse, in the shopping bag you take to the supermarket with you, on the passenger seat of your car or in the glove compartment of your car. Whatever works for you is best. The important thing is that you remember to take it with you when you go to do your shopping. Even if you are only going out for a few things, you want easy access to your money saving coupons!
#4- Swap and Share Coupons with Others
You may have a coupon (or two or three) that you had planned to use but haven’t or it may be for a product that you just do not think that you will be buying any time soon. If that is the case then don’t let the coupon(s) go to waste. Give it to someone else who might be able to use it. In fact when you clip coupons do not throw away the ones that are of no use to you, share them up with your relatives, friends, co-workers and neighbors.
#5- Where to Locate Coupons
There are plenty of places to find coupons if you know where to look for them. Subscribing to your local newspaper will bring plenty of coupons your way. Even if you don’t subscribe to the newspaper if you get a free one once a week then look to see if it contains any coupons.
Some companies send coupons through the postal mail. Watch your mail box for them and then sort through them to figure out which ones are beneficial to you and which ones are not. You can also check at the stores themselves to see if they have any coupon offers or discounts at the present time.
Look online for coupons. Visit the websites of your favorite retailers for available coupons. There are also plenty of websites that feature coupons from any number of different establishments.
Please note: Some coupons have a general use while others are more specific in nature. Before using a coupon make sure that you read it over thoroughly and know exactly how it can and cannot be used.
